Tights, stockings, modesty

– Do tights allow a woman a safety factor in not having to worry about accidentally showing too much?

An example was shown to me today. The lady who looks after the office services for the building was trying to sort out a problem in the office this morning and whilst bending over her skirt rode up very high. It was clear that she was wearing tights and no embarrassment occurred. However if she had been wearing stockings would she have allowed herself to bend over to such an extent?

– Like many others, I think a glimpse of stockinged thigh is worth much more than an eyeful of pantyhosed thigh and apart from being a gentleman and appearing not to have noticed, the advantage of an undisclosed sighting is that you may get another one!

At one time I was attracted to a lady in her ’30s with a curvacious figure who worked in a television rental shop. She wore the corporate navy blue suit but there was always something about her legs that suggested stockings rather than tights. There were no give away reinforced heels, seams or even bumps until one day she was kneeling on the floor fixing an aerial cable and she leant over exposing the profile of the lower hem of a girdle with, I think, rear and side suspenders through the tightly stretched fabric of her skirt.

So, she kept her modesty, but I got to know…

Bare legs are sexy? Dream on…

– I would like to comment on the disturbing phenomenon of a lack of hosiery on women (particularly in the US where it has reached epidemic proportions) and offer a possible reason for it.

Forget for a moment about stockings – here we are concerned with pantyhose (tights). For men old enough to remember, consider how we felt when pantyhose became dominant over gartered stockings: perhaps the biggest objection from males was that pantyhose prevented “access”. It was so much easier to, shall we say, “pet”, when a female was not covered to the waist by a fabric that was not easily removable. With stockings, only the panties (knickers) stood in our way, and they could be gotten around. Not so with pantyhose.

So, a few generations of women grew up never wearing stockings, only pantyhose. In recent years, these young ladies have seen their sexy movie and TV stars wearing “no pantyhose”. Have they perhaps perceived that this is very sexy, because these media stars are suggesting “easy access”? And might not the stars have intended to convey this very message? I think this may be a partial explanation of what we are seeing. Since stockings have generally been much less available that pantyhose, the younger generation, not considering the alternative of wearing stockings, might very well conclude that “no-pantyhose is sexy” which, to them, equals “bare legs are sexy”.

Hopefully, newer generations will become more aware of stockings (how that will happen is another area of discussion) and realise that they are even more sexy than no hosiery. What do you think?

– I think that it is slowly changing thanks to the recent movie Moulin Rouge… at least short term. My fiance works for a major lingerie store found in most malls, and she said that she had about eight girls come in on her last day of work, and six on the day before that asking for… this is the funny part… “Moulin Rouge pantyhose” LOL! They didn’t know that they were called stay ups or stockings. None of the sales were individual… seems like friends are getting together and getting curious… then heading to Victoria’s to buy a pair. We’ll see what happens… and if it lasts.

According to her guesstimates… all were ages 17 to 20, with the oldest not possibly being older than 22.

– I would consider this a brief phenomenon, based on the Christina Aguilera influence. For those of us old enough to remember, this smacks of the whole bustier thing that happened in the 80s after Madonna hit the scene. It fizzled too.

– I’m not sure what the bare legs phenomenon is all about. It may be a combo of things – certainly the current fashion ‘style’, mixed with easy casual wear and the decline in ‘formal’ femininity. This has really been where the present generation of young women diverts from previous ones. In past generations women always seemed to spend much more time on looking good and dressing well – and ‘wanted’ to. Not so today. (Yet many young women still consider themselves feminine). In addition, a great many women have come to hate nylon hosiery of any kind. They find it restrictive and don’t necessarily equate femininity with having to wear it. I find bare legs tacky, just as I find so much of current fashion, esp among young women (low-rise pants and flares, bulbous and thick-soled boots, chunky 70s-era platform shoes) tasteless. But it may be only a trend. My fear is that a generation-and-a-half of young women are growing up not even wearing pantyhose let alone stockings…

However, if a campaign about stockings (not pantyhose) was directed at them – demonstrating how sexy, chic (esp with patterns) and non-restrictive (compared to p’hose) they are, it may turn some corner… As for Moulin Rouge my hunch is also that it will be a flash in the pan. The movie isn’t that popular, there’s little ‘buzz’ around it (except the Aguilera video, which seems to be denounced as ‘tarty’) and I don’t think it will have lasting effect. In fact on the Vogue web site, when asked if the movie would have influence on trends the few replies were directed towards foundation garments – bustiers and corsets. Not one mention about good ol’ stockings.

– While cultural influences such as movies and celebrities may influence fads as has been suggested, the real influence on fashion is values.

Correspondents here often point to the decline of elegance in America to the influence of “Libbers”. They are right in my opinion. I think the socio-political climate associated with “respect” is the real issue.

Where in America are you most likely to see elegantly dressed ladies that are dressed in gartered stockings? The opera and the Kentucky Derby are examples where large numbers of women plan their elegance for weeks in advance.

US society moves at such a fast pace that men and women view elegance as unaffordable from a time perspective. It’s in US locations where the pace is slower that elegance is most often displayed.

This subject has promoted much personal thought the past few weeks. A celebrity won’t influence the return of elegance. A movie won’t influence the return of elegance. Only significant social change related to respect for others will bring about this change, Slowly, but surely, we are moving away from elegance.

I conclude that we can only influence the change within ourselves, and influence change among those we “touch” every day with a positive, gracious example of how to express class and project elegance.

I’m wearing a business suit, white shirt, and silk tie to work today. I’m going to greet everyone I meet today with a smile, and treat each individual with respect and dignity.

– I also tend to agree that Moulin Rouge will have a relatively short and perhaps spectacular shelf life. Whilst confessing to be a bit of a “movie buff” I cannot exactly justify the reason, except that it will never join the musical evergreens such as Singing in the Rain, or the original Can Can.

The fashions will probably encourage some of the more enquiring minds to ask about the portrayed leg fashions, but it will be above the intelligence of the hordes of 18+ olds with flared pants and shapeless chunks for shoes. Society is what has to change in order to encourage even a little more class in the way ladies present themselves.

– I am in complete agreement. I was astonished by an article in the paper here last week about young ladies getting dressed up for the prom. Apparently, in addition to the whole stockings issue, this self-same generation has never worn a pair of proper high heeled shoes! When being assisted with their dresses, they had to have lessons in how to walk properly in heels, instead of clunking around flat-footed like horses. Now, isn’t that sad? It’s a telling thing that young girls have no proper mother figure to teach them posture, grace, hell even proper manners!

Could we be in need for the return of finishing schools? And while we’re on the subject, there should be the same thing for young boys – to learn how to eat properly, stand when a lady enters the room, etc. The only young boys I see of late who are polite (but still boisterous) go to Catholic boys school near my office.

– I hate to agree with everybody here, but there does seem to be a lack of knowledge on how to dress. Every weekend I get at least two or three girls in the shop who do not know the difference between stockings, hold-ups and tights. I have to point out on my body where they come to and double check at the counter (my apologies to any ladies who have bought stockings from me as I have got a few strange looks and ‘yes I know they are stockings’).

I am now changing my packaging: blue with an illustration of a girl in tights for tights and pink with an illustration of a girl in stockings for stockings and hold-ups. Perhaps it would be easier if I just changed the name to ‘Moulin Rouge Tights’.

An appeal to common sense – anon

tockings for the lovers of lifeOf all the questions concerning God and our Creator, the paradox of life, the convoluted mysteries of death and the beyond … the only enigma that has me baffled is: Why aren’t all women lesbians? We men are large, clumsy, hairy, and in most cases very inept … we’re proud, arrogant, and crude beasts. It has always completely eluded me – Why would any human desire an animal such as us, when they could feel the silky lips, the curvature of hips, thighs, and back … that could only be compared with the ebbs and swells of an ocean, the soft tease of hair against the delicious bite of nails of a lusty woman? It’s the aura of the infinite that encompasses women, avatars of life and passion. And when these divine creatures adorn those luscious leggings, it’s the equivalent of God in full armor, brandishing a sword above his head – a site that is, to use the cliché, awe-inspiring.

I’m still young and passionate, inexperienced in that I’m still with my first lover, but I’ll always remember that burst of life that shot through me when she first came to me in naught but those glorious stockings. It’s a momentary, fleeting, but blissful flavor of the nectar the gods must drink. As a man, to know she wants and loves you enough to use all the tools in her power to go above and beyond what is necessary to turn you on, is simply magnificent.

In two months, I leave for West Point, NY to the United States Military Academy. It’s a cause I wholeheartedly believe is worth defending, fighting, and dying for … no, I’m not talking about stockings [that wouldn’t be too corny…]. It’s for life and the passion that it inspires. It is the same passion that brings young lovers to each others arms, that pushes them to do more for one another, not only sexually, but financially, socially, and religiously. For those of us that worship women and the exotic, but sophisticated air about them, the stocking is a symbol of that passion – a banner that screams to all, the pleasures and motivations of all our furious endeavors and mule-stubborn drives.

Bare legs are for the lazy; pantyhose for the practical; stockings for the lovers of life. Besides, at the risk of destroying the credibility of all I just argued, stockings offer easier access.

Nylon: the last taboo

Stockings... whore?“I just noticed a posting on the Vogue web site fashion forum. A woman didn’t want to do ‘the whole nylon thing’ when dressing-up. Because, get this, ‘some people may think that you’re a prostitute if you wear nylons.’ So that, folks, in the year 2001, is the symbolic state to which stocking-wearing has become.

“Reading the postings here over the past few months I have definitely noticed a transatlantic divide on the stocking issue. In the UK stockings are seldom worn because of the general and lamentable decline in dress standards and trend towards shabby ‘casual’ attire (which applies as much to men as it does to women).

“There does not seem, however, to be much actual disapproval of stockings and suspenders per se. From the postings of our North American correspondents (and especially those from the US) it would appear that there exists quite a measure of outright hostility toward both stockings and the women who wear them. It seems very odd. Can anyone enlighten the board as to just why and when this hostility developed?”

Nylons are, these days, associated by the Western mind with sex and prostitution. This is a stereotyped image, which results largely from about 70 years of glamour photos and erotic films. It is very interesting to note that the use of the dildo by lesbians – which was a common feature of erotic imagery but was in fact far removed from the truth – has in the last decade been adopted by the lesbian ‘community’. How extraordinary that pornographic images, created by straight men for the enjoyment of straight men, have so influenced the sexual behaviour of those women who – superficially – reject men (whilst they simultaneously admire women who masquerade as men!). Basically, human behaviour is influenced/determined by fashion. The baby boomers, bra burners and the rest of ’em think they’re thinking for themselves – in reality, they are just fellow passengers in a never-ending fashion parade. Tell the feminists that nylons are a form of ‘female empowerment’ – and they’ll wear ’em!

“Could some of this be latent emotions placed upon young ladies today by their bra-burning, hairy legged mamas? The baby-boomers’ children are in high school and college now, and are probably poisoned with their wacky ideas. I never understood the boomers’ whole value system – don’t want the children to have a basic moral upbringing, no manners, any sense of right and wrong, etc. because that’s all false; people should just suck it up and take you at your lumpiest – but they’re afraid to admit that they smoked a little weed in college and slept around – for fear that they’ll try it too.

“Here’s my other theorem: part of it comes from pantyhose being made now with more Lycra and spandex in them than ever before, which when worn all day, seems to hold the heat and perspiration close to the body. This is especially true in the summer around the waist area.

“As for being thought of as a prostitute for wearing nylons -who gives a damn? Are we all a nation of lemmings?”

“You are not alone in your wonderment of the people in this country: Grunge clothes are an expression of individuality, but a lady who chooses to wear glamorous lingerie must be a slut. Girdles are frowned on but pantyhose manufacturers are doing everything but dipping women in a vat of Lycra up to their waist to ensure that waist to toe compression.

“Pantyhose did NOT replace stockings because there was anything wrong with stockings – they were billed as being more convenient and more suitable for shorter skirts.

“Even on this forum, some posters want to set moral standards on what age is ‘proper’ for a young lady to wear stockings. There is an impression that it is not possible for a lady to want to wear stockings for any reason OTHER than sex and the gratification of their mates.

“The hostile people one correspondent encountered in the health club last month would not have given her a second thought if she had purple hair and a chain connecting her nose to her nipple! But because she was wearing NORMAL lingerie from the period prior to pantyhose she was harassed.

“Woman need to concede that there are a lot of hypocrites out there that talk out both sides of their mouth and brains. I only wonder what new diseases and maladies will plague woman as, as you pointed out, pantyhose gets more and more confining and restricting. Maybe I need to complete my pre-med studies – might be a run on doctors.”

A question of ethnicity?

Kei NishikoriWould anyone care to shed some insight on whether certain ethnicities are more inclined to wear stockings as opposed to others? I would like to hear some feedback.

– It is an issue I have been thinking of recently as I stock ‘skintone’ stockings which could seem a bit offensive to some customers. Even though 95% of my stocking customers are white I have been thinking of stocking a bitter chocolate colour as well (although this is for selfish reasons as I think they’d look great on dark skin) – I’ve got a few black and asian friends so I’ll have to find out what they do for hosiery.

– Here in OZ, the plane loads of young female Japanese tourists who come here seem to have a fixation with hosiery. I have even seen them wear ph with their bathers whilst swimming at the beaches here! In Singapore, the office and shop girls dress extremely well, with great attention paid to their hair and make-up, always with skirts/dresses and pantyhose and heels.

But the most delightful sight is in Bangkok where the office girls in lovely tight skirts, pantyhose and heels seem to be able to gracefully board and disembark the ferries on the rivers without the help of gang-planks. This involves stepping (really more of a leap) up onto the jetties, from ferries which don’t actually stop but merely slow down a bit. You can spend hours watching this and not get tired of the parade.

I’m sorry to have mentioned the dreaded ph word in this forum, but when you are a dedicated leg man and stocking watcher such as I, one has to carefully take notice of what is being worn and take the bad with the good.

– When I lived in San Fransisco and Oakland in the late ’70s and the early ’80s, it seemed that seams were the required getup for Central American, particularly Nicuraguan babes out on a date, or dressed up out with husband and the kiddies on a weekend night. I used to see Mexican and Mexican American babes all seamed up in LA and at big Tejano dances I used to go to in South Tejas during the same years. Even here in Miami I have been at the home of middle aged Latino friends and seen the wife getting all seamed up for a night at some cultural association.

Not to mention my soul sisters. I have seen some really seamy black women. In the south especially it continued I think into the 1970s as a dress up for church thing.

– Is there necessarily a rule that hosiery should match leg colour? White women wear black or dark-coloured stockings after all… I think a black woman could well look stunning in cream or white hose!

– Living in a large urban area with a huge black population I have come to the conclusion that the sexiest, most ladylike women are African-Americans. Even yesterday at the mall the most glamorous woman was a black woman in gorgeous calf-length summer dress and high-heeled sandals. Her white sisters generally looked ugly in ill-fitting tank tops, shorts and flats. There is hosiery designed for African-American women. And it’s ‘skin-toned.’ But like the ‘racist’ connotations associated with ‘skin toned’ band-aids, ‘skin-toned’ nylons are not the right shades for black women; these stockings are for dark pigmentation & some very sheer. Generally speaking the only glamour left in America is among black women. If you want to see wonderfully-dressed women, in the sexiest shows and, yes, wearing nylons, go to black concerts or nightclubs or gospel services on Sunday.

Your observations equate very well to fashion trends in Atlanta. Offices, clubs, shows, churches, and streets reflect more feminine attire among African-American women in Atlanta.

Wearing stockings on an everyday basis

reggicalze_in_macchinaI had a big discussion with some lady friends of mine that wear stockings only on specific occasions (such as a sexy night out). They told me that they wear them to arouse their boy friends or husbands with the purpose of having sex. I totally disagree; I find it much more interesting and arousing, that a woman wears stockings on an everyday basis. The fact that a woman wears stockings and suspenders just because she thinks that she might have sex that evening is a turn off.

– I wear stockings or hold-ups every time I wear a skirt or dress. I have been wearing stockings since I was about 16 or so as tights did not agree with me. These days I tend to wear more hold-ups than “real” stockings, but I still wear “real” stockings maybe 3/4 times a month.

– I wear stockings on a everyday basis. On special occasions I wear black fully fashioned by Gerbe and I have not even thought about wearing tights. By the way, I am 39 years young, and my husband loves it even more than I do. Seeing me in stockings that is.

– I don’t wear stockings every day but I do wear either stockings or hold ups every time that I go out, even if it is just shopping. I would feel naked if I wasn’t wearing any hosiery and I don’t like tights. So you could say that, relatively speaking at least, I always wear stockings.

Stockings are just a normal bit of clothing that I wear, they just replaced tights.

The stockings versus tights war: battle two

Sexy TightsI have yet to see a pair of pantyhose that can match the sheen, lustre, and overall raw sexiness of a pair of well crafted stockings. The basis of nylon’s attractiveness is based on multisensory appeal…I feel that visually and tactilely pantyhose lack the impact that stockings possess. Even the sheerest of pantyhose lack the denier and gauge that gives stockings their superior appeal.

There is nothing more sensual than a beautiful woman adorned in nylon stockings and a garter belt. Being a Scot residing in Australia, I would compare the introduction of pantyhose to no longer being able to purchase square sausage. Both these events can easily be referred to as ‘tragedies’. I am 53-years old and feel privileged to have spent my courting years around such sexily presented girls in the sixties and early seventies.

You must understand the absolute pleasure of seeing a peek of stocking top revealed from beneath a woman’s skirt. The scenarios are plenty and everyday – getting in and out of cars, bending over a desk in the office, crossing legs on a train, sat on a barstool in the pub. Most men would not only notice a woman in a short skirt with sheer hosiery, but would look to see if they were stockings. The tell tale bumps further up the skirt is often another good indicator. These are the things that make the world go round, that make life worth living!

I have a partner of a number of years who finds the wearing of pantyhose preferable to that of stockings. This is for a number of reasons: she feels that they are more flattering, keeping unsightly bulges safely hidden away. She will occasionally wear stockings for me because that is what excites me most. However as for myself I find them the biggest turn off imaginable. There is absolutely no eroticism associated with pantyhose, absolutely no glamour associated with them. I cannot think of anything so tedious as a woman in bra, pants and pantyhose.

Never mind condoms, the pill, etc. the biggest contraceptive just has to be the pantyhose.

I remember the frustration I experienced as a young man, running my hand up the leg of the girl of the moment only to find a nylon gusset at the top and the disappointment I felt at the time. It is a fact that I would have experienced sexual intercourse more often had it not been for girl’s pantyhose.

Stockings (and for me in particular lace holdups) are in every way superior than those articles of the devil, the pantyhose. I have seen women coming down stairs on the London underground showing the lace top of her stockings and it has added that extra boost throughout the day. Pantyhose would not do this. Just the thought of running my hand up the leg of a ladies leg to find the top of stockings would increase my heart rate. Pantyhose would not do this. I have seen women remove pantyhose and remove stockings and every time I find stockings far more sensuous.

Stockings are the sexiest attire ever invented, the glimpse, feel and removing of which are the biggest guaranteed turn-ons. Tights are quite possibly the least sexiest thing ever invented; passion killing, fun stopping, turn offs.

I have never met a man that favoured pantyhose over nylon stockings (hold up or suspender-garterbelt type) in today’s society from the USA to Europe and all the islands. Stockings are making a greater comeback than the euro did for the dollar.

Since the invention of silk stockings men and woman have been intrigued with their allure. This pace slowed down on the introduction of pantyhose. I believe it was a quick fix for the fast paced business woman until lingerie from decades ago became very vogue. We now have a stocking frenzy…

The stockings versus tights war: battle one

StockingsWe are talking sex-appeal, right? In that case there is no doubt that seeing a beautiful ‘stockinged’ leg can be very sexy. The more leg the sexier. And pantyhose may facilitate such a sight. But that is where the matter ends, in more senses than one.

Surely no-one can successfully argue that the top of a pair of pantyhose has any sort of appeal, visual or sexual? The construction of this part of the garment is necessarily workaday and utilitarian in the extreme. There neither is nor can be any aesthetic attached to it.

Stockings, on the other hand, whether attached to suspenders or stay-ups, have infinite charm and variety from toe to top. They release the imagination rather than confine it. If, for a moment, one imagines a situation of intimacy, then the sight of a stocking top coming into view not only sets the heart and pulse racing, but indicates that that there will be no ungainly interference with greater intimacy.

As I see it the stocking is far preferable to tights for a number of reasons. Firstly, we have the effect of tights of imposing a barrier, they repel. Stockings on the other hand pose no barrier and invite. Secondly, the contrast between the flesh of the thigh and the stocking is alluring, the uniformity of the leg in tights is neither attractive nor unattractive it is neutral and therefore by definition bland suggesting that the wearer may be also. Finally, in the throes of passion, in those precious moments before consummation of a love act, the removal of stockings (if required) can be erotic, the removal of tights is closer to comedic performance.

As a commonly discussed subject amongst my friends (we are all well adjusted professional men in our twenties), we all love to see our wives/girlfriends in stockings. It is difficult to explain why but they have an attraction, an allure and this all makes them incredibly sexy.

I managed an M&S store and in all my time there, most men bought stockings for their partners or hold ups, particularly around Valentines day. A purchase of tights was very uncommon! Men who prefer tights are in the minority and are missing out and are frankly worrying individuals!

There is ABSOLUTELY no comparison. A beautiful woman in thigh high stockings is absolutely the most erotic sight one can view, while one in pantyhose (tights) may remain beautiful they don’t have the erotic equality what-so-ever.

To begin with, aesthetics: an otherwise-nude female in stockings and (hopefully) heels, is a walking billboard for ‘I’m naked, I’m available… and I want to look my best for you.’ Her femininity is there and available. On the other hand, a woman wearing pantyhose – whether with heels or not – is featuring a center of attention that looks a great deal like Bill the Cat thrown with great force against a screen door.

If you line up nine gorgeous women wearing pantyhose and one that was average in looks wearing stockings, told them all to sit in a chair and cross their legs, let their skirts ride high so you can just see the stocking tops on the one wearing stockings, then led me into the room and told me to pick one… guess which one I would pick?

I just asked the three girls I live with and we are all in total agreement. None of us like pantyhose and for many reasons, one being that it’s very unhealthy and another because they are ugly and irritating under a dress or skirt. All of us have worn pantyhose at one time or another and all of us have vowed to never do it again. Stockings and suspender belts are where it’s at, both for overall erotic appeal and for comfort of wear.

Men know the truth. If you can catch a woman with stockings or thigh highs on, look to see how many men are there, trying to steal a glance! This does not occur with nearly the same frequency when women are wearing tights (pantyhose).

Take two photos of the same model in the same classy environment, one wearing nothing but black pantyhose the other wearing nothing but black stockings and garters, then ask ten regular guys which photo they prefer and… I WIN… Stocking, Stocking, Stocking!

What is sexy about the top part of pantyhose? To be honest I find it a turn off to see a woman put on (or off) a pantyhose. If she does the same with a pair of stockings I find it very much a turn on and it adds a very nice accent to her femininity.

Stockings: lesbian or bi?

Garter Belt and tarten skirtI was searching the AOL member directory this weekend. I chose the words “garter belt” and “female“. For tthose not familiar with AOL, members create a profile that includes the usual things; name, location, marital status, hobbies etc…

Almost 50% of the women who said they wore a garter belt and stockings were either lesbian or bi-sexual. I thought this was rather odd, so I sent an e-mail to one of the ladies who gave that impression, asking her if wearing a garter belt and stockings had become a sign of lesbianism. Her response sent chills running down my back!

She stated that indeed, at least in the US that wearing stockings has become somewhat of a “calling card” for other lesbians! She said that when she is out at a bar or a club, she looks for women in stockings, and considers any that she finds potential “dates”. So at last my question to the group:

Has anyone else encountered this, and ladies, has a lesbian or bisexual lady ever hit on you because you were wearing stockings? I sincerely hope this is not the case. If this is indeed true and the mainstream women ever hear about this, it could deal a serious blow to our cause, as straight ladies would never wear a garter belt and stockings for fear of being labelled a lesbian or bisexual! Not that being one is bad, that is an individual choice, however I would prefer straight ladies continue to wear stockings and not feel they are being stereotyped!

– That’s a new one on me. I’ve never heard of or thought of that one. Of course there’s a lot of stuff people put on the Internet that is just a figment of their imagination.

– I have no idea if stockings are the current uniform du jour in the lesbian/bi community but God bless them if it is. I rather think your leg was being pulled (and not in a nice way) by someone who was either relating a local custom in her particular gay community or was having a bit of fun with the “straight guy”.

It was my pleasure to know a femme lesbian some years ago who was the epitome of femininity. She did occasionally wear stockings but her dates, mostly butch-type lesbians, certainly did not act or look feminine at all. Picture the group Village People.

By the way did you know that if you wear anything green on Thursday, it is a signal to all gay men that you are available? LOL.

– I agree that any woman (regardless of sexual orientation) in stockings is a great thing. However I would like to think it was because of a taste for fashion and not a symbol of their sexual preference. I am going to e-mail a few more of these women and ask them the same question. You may be right about my leg being pulled, but I’m going to ask for some additional thoughts.

– I almost laughed aloud at reading this – maybe this is a good thing! Don’t you all know that when something is adopted by the gay and lesbian communities, it is a sure sign that it’ll be in the mainstream soon? Keep an eye out! When retailers see money to be made, rest assured the rest of the world will follow!

Perhaps someone could ask our resident lesbians in the chatroom. They also claim to be from New York ,the launching point of many trends. In my own experience, I have never been hit on by a woman while wearing stockings. Actually, I have only seen stockings here in Kansas two other times on ladies, unfortunately. Pantyhose is even rare here.

“Garter belt” pantyhose: atrocity?

lack-Garter-Belt-Look-Pantyhose-large– I was shopping for stockings yesterday and the salesperson offered me a pair of “garter belt” pantyhose which I’d never seen before. I’m sure most of you are familiar with these. They are open, one-piece pantyhose which, when they’re on, sort of take on the appearance of stockings and a garter belt. I put the emphasis on SORT OF. The salesperson was actually wearing a pair and lifted her skirt to show me. She tried to sell me the idea that they had the best qualities of both stockings and pantyhose such as comfort, ease of putting on and off, simplicity when going to the bathroom, etc. She failed to mention how unsexy they look! I passed and bought REAL stockings! Has anyone ever worn these atrocities?

– Before I got a PC, I always had a hard time finding real stockings here in Kansas, the heart of the Bible Belt. I used to buy those things and cut the “garters” off and just use the stocking part with my own garter belts. Not very silky or sexy but it worked. Thank God for the net!

– I particularly find suspender stockings (as we call them in the UK) very sexy. Why has it all to be just plain nylon stockings? There’s a whole world out there of sexy and nice hosiery to discover, guys. If look at it under a different light, you’ll see that hold-ups, and suspender tights can be as sexy as stockings. It all depends on the lady who’s wearing them… 🙂

On the other hand, I must admit I DO hate tights, as they are the symbol of anti-feminism and bad taste, let alone the practical side of it. A pair of nice legs must always be complimented by a pair of nice stockings, hold-ups or suspender tights.

– I agree on this one folks. My girlfriend wears these sometimes and it drives me wild. But I would still prefer a garterbelt and stockings any day because you can’t beat the sexiness of watching a lady put on or take off stockings, or better yet, taking them off yourself.

I also find them sexy. They are a nice substitute for the “real thing” and some women prefer them. So instead of trying to push the real thing on them, I’d be happy to accept this substitute… suspender tights or garterhose or whatever you want to call them, they’re simply not as evil as pantyhose as people here seem to think they are! Anyway, just my opinion 🙂
